Khara Pongal

Ingredients:
1 cup Rice
1 Cup Moong dal
2-3 Garlic clove
1/2 spoon grated ginger
4-5 Spoon Ghee
5-6 Curry Leaves
1 tea spoon Mustard seeds
1 tea spoon Turmeric powder
3 spoon finely chopped coconut pieces
5 cup Water
Salt

Method:
1. Wash and soak rice and moong dal for 15-20 min.
2. Drain the water using colander.
3. Add rice and moong dal into pressure cooker.
4. Add water.
5. Add turmeric powder and salt according to your taste.
6. Close the lid of cooker. Cook till 1 whistle come in high flame. then 2 whistle in low flame.
7. Turn off the stove. Wait till the pressure is released.
8. Meanwhile finely chop garlic.
9. Melt ghee in pan.
10. Crackle mustard seed and curry leaves.
11. Add garlic and ginger and fry till it become golden brown.
12. Add coconut pieces and fry till it become golden brown.
13. Add the cooked rice and moongdal. Mix well.
14. Serve with Ghee and Coconut chutney.


Note:
1. Adding cashew nut roasted in ghee while serving gives great taste.
